Montepaschi returns to work today after two days off after closing the semifinal series against Cantù. The green-and-white group does not yet know the name of their opponents for the title finals, but they seem to have a good idea of what needs to be done no matter who the opponent may be.

Nikos Zisis comments, “Our goal right from the start of the season was to win the national title. We’ve taken a big step toward that in making the finals but that’s not enough. We can expect a really hard series where we have to win 4 games to ensure the title. The semifinals against Cantù were tough despite the 3-0, especially playing game 3 on their court because there’s a very unique atmosphere there. But we did a good job and were intelligent, and we played an excellent game.”

So, it’s another final for Montepaschi - the fourth consecutive and the fifth in the Viale Sclavo club’s history

MPS’s Greek point guard concludes, “Better Milan or Caserta? It doesn’t make a difference. Both are good teams and it’s hard to make predictions. What’s certain is that in order to play games like this at this pace, you need energy, focus and a lot of heart. However, we have the home court advantage and hope to make use of these days to regain our strength and head into game 1 ready.”
