Luca Lechthaler was born in Mezzacorona (Tn) on January 23, 1986. His role on court is pivot.
He begins playing basketball with Us Piani Bolzano in the 90s. Discovered by Simone Pianigiani, Mens Sana Basket recruits him for 2000/2001 season and has him wear the green-and-white jersey starting the summer of 2001. In Siena, he wins the 2002 and 2003 Cadetti titles, the Juniores and Under 20 titles in 2004, and appears on the first teams a few times in 2002/2003 and 2003/2004. Believing in his techncial-tactical growth, Montepaschi sends him out on loan in the LegaDue, first to Sassari (2004/2005), then to Ferrara (2005/2006). He returns to home base the summer of 2006, playing the Uleb Cup and winning the 2006/2007 national title. The following season, he becomes one of the pillars at Premiata Montegranaro. They access the finals and make it to the quarterfinals, thus earning a spot in Uleb, which the team from The Marche is forced to give up. He returns to Siena the 2008/2009 season to contribute to the group with whom he wins the three titles at stake in Italy: the Supercoppa, Coppa Italia and National Title. Luca goes back to The Marche the following season to wear Sutor Montegranaro’s jersey. Last year he played in the LegaDue, firstwith Ferrara and then Venice, with whom he played for a promotion to the A Series. The 2011/2012 season starts off with the win of the Italian Supercup and continues with the Coppa Italia win in February of 2012 and ends in winning the club's seventh national title ever, their sixth consecutive. In February 2013 he won the Italian Cup.
