Image

Marco Carraretto was born on October 27, 1977 in Treviso. His role on court is guard.

Growing up on the Benetton youth teams, he makes his A Series debut during the 1996/1997 season wearing the Trevisian jersey. Carraretto spends the next two years in Mestre playing for the Bears. Thanks to them he gains enough experience to become a high level competitor. In fact, in the summer of 1999 he is engaged by Pallacanestro Amatori Udine, a Legadue club which (thanks also to his contribution) obtains a promotion to A Series (1999/2000 season) and subsequently remains at the highest level of Italian basketball competition (2000/2001). The next stops are Muller Verona (2001/2002) and Lauretana Biella, the teams on which he passes an important two years (from 2002 to April of 2004).  It's that very spring that, dissolving his contract as one of the starting five with Piedmont, Marco Carraretto accepts Tau Vitoria's proposal to close the season in Spain and compete in the Liga ACB semifinals.
The prestigious Iberian championship experience continues for the next two years, but with the Leche Rio Breogan jersey on his back. During the last tournament (2005/2006), Marco Carraretto plays in 19 games with an average of 5.7ppg in an average of 19.0 minutes of play time on the court.
2006/2007 is his first season wearing the Montepaschi Siena jersey. It’s a year spent training hard at the gym to be ready when called on court. And it’s exactly in one of these moments during a semi-final match that he scores the baskets which pave Mens Sana’s way to championship victory. He’s always ready to lend his team a hand. Next season, the green-and-whites win the Supercoppa 2007, take third place at the Final Four in Madrid and win their second National Title in two years – the club’s third ever. The “green-and-white microwave” has never failed to make a contribution, and last season was no exception. Carraretto left his mark on the green-and-white grand slam where the team took the Supercoppa Italiana in September of 2008, the Coppa Italia in February 2009 and Mens Sana Basket’s fourth ever National Title. The slam is repeated the following season with the Supercoppa win, the Coppa Italia win, the club’s second ever, and the National Title, the fourth consecutive. In October of 2010, the new season's first trophy arrives with the Supercoppa, follwed by the club’s third ever Coppa Italia and sixth National title. On the European front, Montepaschi participates in the 2011 Final Four (third place). The 2011/2012 season starts off with the win of the Italian Supercup and continues with the Coppa Italia win (4th consecutive) in February of 2012 and ends in winning the club's seventh national title ever, their sixth consecutive. The next season he became the captain of the team. In February won the Italian Cup but he didn't play because of an injury.

CARRARETTO AND THE NATIONALS - Besides having represented the Italian youth teams in the 90's, Marco Carraretto wore the Italian National unifrom in 2002 participating in the tournament in China, and was a star in June of 2005 winning the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games played in Almeria, Spain. The summer of 2010 he’s called up by his National Team for the Eurobasket 2011 qualification tournament, where he wears the Italian NT jerseyonce again.
